(GivenUs.com) – Bob Ross inspired so many people to exercise their creative abilities from the comfort of home. His soft demeanor and inviting voice encouraged people to make art playful and joyful, regardless of how “good” they were at it. But Ross wasn’t just a great artist; he also taught us a lot of other important lessons.
Sara Young explains:
Key Lessons From Bob Ross
- Learn how to take critique. Being in the public limelight is like being in a fishbowl. Someone is always watching your every move. Bob was always being scrutinized. Experts and other artists were constantly talking about him and trying to dupe his artistry. For you, take what others say with a grain of salt, and don’t let anything stop you from pursuing your dreams.
- To take the time. Bob’s paintings were never rushed. He took the time to bring his art to fruition, and he shared it with the world. Take the right amount of time to do tasks and projects correctly daily. Set aside time for things you love to do. The goal is to bring an equal amount of work and pleasure to your daily life.
- Grow from your mistakes. Ross famously fixed much of his work on his shows. If something didn’t fit or look right, he wasn’t afraid to switch it up, calling it a “happy accident.” Make this your life motto. Instead of throwing a project away, learn a way to fix or enhance it.
Bob Ross taught us far more than how to paint pretty little trees. He was a soft-spoken artist with a keen eye for creativity, and learning from him can make us all better people. His life lessons are something that sticks with you as the years roll by. The world needs more Bob Rosses.
