(GivenUs.com) – With the pandemic in full swing, everyone is looking for something to do to keep busy and escape the stress of the outside world. This is where arts and crafts come in to play. One activity everyone can do is pour paint. In fact, it can be rather calming as shown in this video by the Dirty Artist.
Getting Started
You’ll need a few supplies to start:
- Your choice of an item, like a mandala (make sure its sealed and primed for painting) or a blank canvas
- Variety of acrylic paints–you’ll need at least two to create contrast
- Cups for holding paint
- Gloves and an apron
Creating Your Art Area
Set up a large work surface. Create a workable space that’s sealed off to prevent spills. Have room to spread out and easily access your supplies. The process can get messy!
Now it’s time to have fun. Fill your cup or cups with acrylic paint. Pour each color, one by one, on top of the next. Then begin to slowly pour on your mandala or accent piece. It can be soothing to watch the colors ebb and flow. Remember, this is art, and each piece turns out different! Allow your piece to dry for at least 2 weeks before applying the final sealant.
The best part of the entire experience is that you can relax as you drizzle paint along the blank surface. This can create a sense of serenity and satisfaction. The result is an original beautiful piece of art to share in your home or office.
