(GivenUs.com) – What would we do without the satisfaction of social media?
We scroll through Facebook and post our memories on Instagram while in line at the store. We pull up Twitter to avoid awkward encounters in waiting rooms. It’s ingrained in our daily lives, but should we go so far as to consider it an “addiction”?
Some might say yes. others, like the speaker in this video, hesitate to use such a powerful label because they aren’t sure whether it fits.
There’s little doubt that social media has a strong effect on us. It’s designed to draw us in and keep us coming back for more.
Our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram apps allow us to scroll through constant feeds of content. It’s such an easy way to kill time, and it’s hard to stop once we get started.
If we do manage to put the phone down for a while, the endless stream of notifications has a way of pulling us back in. Feel your phone vibrating in your pocket again? Better check it right away!
Social media has such a profound influence that the types of content we see can even affect our emotional states. It’s pretty powerful stuff, isn’t it?
If you feel like social media is bringing down your mood or interfering with your life, it could be time to take a little breather. Media platforms are amazing assets, but they can also be exhausting. Why not try picking up a new hobby or turning your phone off for the evening if you need a break?
